Recovr is a trading name of Dapper Trading LTD ("Dapper Trading", "we", "us", "our"), the operator of the Recovr app and website. Dapper Trading LTD is the data controller for the purposes of UK data protection law, including the UK GDPR and the Data Protection Act 2018. This policy explains what personal data we collect when you use Recovr, how and why we use it, who we share it with, how long we keep it, and the rights you have. By using Recovr you acknowledge the practices described in this policy.
1. Who we are and how to contact us
Recovr is operated by Dapper Trading LTD, registered in England and Wales (Company No. 8800299), with its registered office at Oak House, Reeds Crescent, Watford WD24 4QP, UK. For any privacy question, to exercise your rights, or to reach our data protection contact, email recovr@webmastersldn.com.
2. Personal data we collect
Account and identity data: your name, email address, phone number, date of birth, postal address and, if you add one, a profile photo. Vehicle data: make, model, year, colour, registration and registered keeper. Location data: your precise GPS position or the pickup and destination addresses you enter, your saved places, and, for operators, continuous live location while you are online. Booking and service data: the problem you report, any notes or photos, job and trip history, prices, and ratings. Payment data: handled by our payment provider; we receive limited information such as card type, the last four digits and transaction status, not your full card number. Operator verification data: identity documents, date of birth, business details, insurance and certification documents, and the results of identity, business and anti-money-laundering checks. Device and technical data: device identifiers, push-notification tokens, IP address, app version and diagnostics. Communications: in-app messages with operators, support requests and one-time security codes. Emergency contacts you choose to add.
3. How and why we use your data, and our lawful bases
We use your data to create and manage your account and provide the service (performance of our contract with you); to match you with nearby operators and to calculate fares, ETAs and routes, including automated dispatch and price calculation (contract and our legitimate interests in running an efficient marketplace); to enable live tracking and in-app messaging during a job (contract); to take payment and pay operators (contract and legal obligation); to verify operator identity, insurance and eligibility and to meet anti-money-laundering and safety obligations (legal obligation and legitimate interests); to prevent, detect and investigate fraud, misuse and safety incidents (legitimate interests); to provide support (contract and legitimate interests); to understand how Recovr is used and to analyse, improve, secure and develop the service and better understand our customers (our legitimate interests in operating, improving and growing the service, balanced against your rights - see the "Improving Recovr" section below); to comply with law and to establish, exercise or defend legal claims (legal obligation and legitimate interests); and, only where you have opted in, to send you marketing (consent).
4. Location data
Location is central to Recovr. As a customer, we use your precise location or the address you enter to find nearby operators and to show your operator where you are; you can use a typed address instead of precise GPS. As an operator, when you go online we collect your device location continuously, including in the background where you allow it, so we can match you to nearby jobs and show customers your live position. You can turn location sharing off in your device settings, but core features of Recovr will not work without it.
5. Automated processing
We use automated systems to match jobs to operators by distance and eligibility and to calculate fares, which may include an automated assessment of job complexity. These do not produce legal or similarly significant effects on you without human involvement, and any price is shown to you before you confirm. Contact us if you want to question how a price was calculated.
6. Who we share your data with
We share the minimum job details necessary with the operator who accepts your job, including your live location during that job. We use carefully selected providers who process data on our behalf under contract: cloud hosting and database (Supabase), maps, routing and address services (Google Maps Platform), payment processing (Stripe), identity, business and insurance verification (Didit), email delivery (Brevo), push notifications (Google Firebase Cloud Messaging), vehicle data lookup, and AI processing used for pricing and document checks (including Anthropic and Google). We may also disclose data where required by law, to enforce our terms, or to protect the rights, safety and property of users, the public or us. We do not sell your personal data.
7. International transfers
Some of our providers may process data outside the United Kingdom. Where they do, we rely on UK adequacy regulations or appropriate safeguards such as the UK International Data Transfer Agreement, or the UK Addendum to the EU Standard Contractual Clauses.
8. How long we keep your data
We keep your account and job data for as long as your account is active, and afterwards only as long as we need it to meet legal, tax, accounting, safety and dispute-resolution obligations (generally up to six years for financial records), after which we delete or anonymise it. Operator verification records are kept for the period required by anti-money-laundering and insurance rules.
9. How we protect your data
We use encryption in transit, access controls, and row-level database security so that users can only access their own data. No system can be completely secure, and you are responsible for keeping your login details confidential and for any activity under your account.
10. Your rights
Under UK data protection law you have the right to access your data, to have it corrected or deleted, to restrict or object to how we process it, to data portability, and to withdraw consent where we rely on it. You can manage much of this in the app under Settings, or contact us. We will not charge a fee in normal cases and will respond within one month.
11. Improving Recovr: research, development and analytics
We use personal data to understand how Recovr is used and to analyse, improve, secure and develop our service - for example to improve dispatch and pricing, fix problems, build new features, measure performance, and better understand our customers and how to serve them. Where we can, we use aggregated or pseudonymised data for this. Our lawful basis is our legitimate interests in operating, improving and growing a safe and reliable service, which we have weighed against your rights and freedoms in a legitimate interests assessment. This processing does not produce legal or similarly significant effects on you, and we do not use special-category data for it. You can object to this use at any time in the app under Settings, then Privacy, by turning off "Share trip data" and "Marketing analytics", or by emailing recovr@webmastersldn.com; we will stop unless we have compelling legitimate grounds that override your interests. We do not sell your personal data. Any non-essential analytics that rely on cookies or similar technologies are used only with your consent (see our Cookie Policy).
12. Children
Recovr is not intended for anyone under 18, and we do not knowingly collect personal data from children. If you believe a child has provided us with data, contact us and we will delete it.
13. Changes and complaints
We may update this policy from time to time and will post the new version with a revised date. If you have a concern we have not resolved, you can complain to the Information Commissioner's Office at ico.org.uk.
